Our School
Temple Emanu-El’s mission is to create a dynamic, engaging, child-centered community characterized by developmentally appropriate learning, risk-free exploration, genuine diversity, and consistent respect. We offer families the assurance of a safe, caring, and nurturing environment for their children and an atmosphere of support and understanding for themselves.

We view children as powerful individuals. We respect children for who they are now, as well as for their potential. While we are focused on preparing children for their future, we also attend to their current intellectual and creative needs, making their days in our school as fulfilling as we hope their future will be. Enriching opportunities are found throughout our school that support this mission. The art studio, facilitated by our skilled art teacher, walls filled with children’s photographs and work, classrooms filled with natural light , visually pleasing and curiosity inducing natural material, the culinary arts teaching kitchen , all contribute to age appropriate opportunities for our students to grow in so many ways.

Students are nurtured throughout their time in school. Teachers help build a sense of community in each classroom and school wide. Teachers sit with the children for lunch providing an opportunity to get involved in conversations and also teaching healthy habits.

Our staff
Our teachers listen, document, challenge, and organize children's learning.   The teachers seek to know each child as an individual person and to create a trusting relationship in which learning can take place.

The role of the teacher is to be a researcher, a documenter, a reflector, and a supporter of learning. Teachers observe and listen to children's ideas and interests. The teachers then document the children’s ideas and expand the children's understanding of the topic.
