Yom Kippur Study Session
Thursday, October 9 • 12:30 p.m. - 2:30 p.m. Linz Hall
Join 175 adults and youth for a unique and interactive study session where we will study text, learn from each other, and explore how the lessons of Yom Kippur can attain ongoing meaning in our lives and guide us as we work to repair our world. The study session will include feature both large group learning and small group discussions.

Please mark your calendars for this one-time opportunity to meet with and learn from Rabbi Jonah Pesner, national director of Just Congregations, and assistant director Lila Foldes, as they share success stories from synagogues across the United States and take our questions about how congregational based community organizing can build upon the long tradition of social justice at Temple Emanu-El.

Study Session – Becoming a Just Congregation: "An Introduction to the Transformative Process of Congregation-Based Community Organizing”
Friday, November 7 • 9:30 a.m. – 1:45 p.m. then 3:15 p.m. – 4:45 p.m. These sessions will be led by Rabbi Jonah Pesner, national director of Just Congregations, Lila Foldes, assistant director of Just Congregations, and the Rev.Willie Bennett, lead organizer of Dallas Area Interfaith. Participants will also hear from local synagogue leaders who are engaged in Congregational Based Community Organizing (CBCO) in their congregations. This training will help synagogue leaders learn about the basic principles of CBCO: relationship-building within and beyond the congregation and acting collectively on common concerns. The session will be highly interactive, giving participants the opportunity to actually experience and reflect on the techniques of CBCO.
