TEMPLE EMANU-EL ADULT CHOIR

The Temple Emanu-El Choir was founded in 1953, a testament to the spirit of music to add a rich spiritual dimension to all aspects of our lives. The choir sings at many Shabbat services, during the High Holy Days and at an annual Hanukkah concert at NorthPark Center. It is noted for its rich repertoire of Israeli, Yiddish and Sephardic music, as well as its performances of the masterpieces of the Jewish choral tradition.

The only synagogue choir invited to appear with a major American orchestra, the Temple Emanu-El Choir performed with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra in 1984, presenting the world premiere performance of Simon Sargon’s Cantata of Penitence “Elul: Midnight.”

In past years, the group toured extensively, both nationally and internationally and in 2001, recorded a CD of music of the High Holy Days.

Choir membership is open to all who love to sing and are interested in Jewish choral music. For more information about joining the Choir, please contact Chris Crook or 214.706.0000, ext.1801.

KOL SHIR YOUTH CHOIR

Kol Shir, offers an opportunity for growth through the connection of song, prayer and community. And most importantly…we have FUN! Children in second through sixth grade who sing in the choir gain a relationship to Judaism through personal interactions and through leadership, singing during Shabbat services and holidays, with musical guests, and at our annual Hanukkah concert with the Temple Emanu-El Adult Choir at NorthPark Center.

Kol Shir practices each week that Youth Learning + Engagement is in session from 12-12:30 p.m.

If you are interested in joining Kol Shir, please contact Cantor Leslie Niren.
