Youth Learning + Engagement, or YL+E, is Temple Emanu-El’s home for families with school-aged children. From Kindergarten through 12th grade, we welcome students and families into our education and engagement programs.
YL+E partners with parents in raising Jewish youth and inspiring them to act with chesed (kindness), rachamim (compassion) and tzedek (justice) within their daily lives. In YL+E programs, youth and teens create relationships with each other and with adult Jewish role models, including Temple clergy, staff and our phenomenal faculty.
On Sundays, students spend time in Judaica classes learning about Jewish holidays and ritual symbols, Torah, Jewish values, history, heroes, Israel and social justice. All of our students also participate in weekly T’filah, led by our clergy. During these interactive, musical worship services students learn to pray, get to expand their prayer toolbox and get time to reflect on their own lives.
In addition to Judaica and T’filah, our K-2nd grade students rotate through specialties in music, library, Hebrew and art. Our 3rd-9th grade students select interest-based electives throughout the year as well including STEM, theater, art, Krav Maga, Teva (nature) and more.
Temple Emanu-El is committed to ensuring accessibility and engagement for individuals with disabilities. If you or a loved one could benefit from additional support or accommodations in this area, please contact the office and we’ll make every effort to provide the needed support. We look forward to working with you.
