Election Day 2024
Temple is here for you as we approach Election Day, anticipate the aftermath of a very close presidential race and decide on important issues to the city of Dallas. Please make a plan to vote if you haven’t already! As always, we hope that Temple continues to be a safe place that acknowledges our community’s diverse viewpoints, and we offer these activities and resources to ground us together during this time.
Community:
Rabbi David Stern will share his reflections in his sermon on Friday night at the Shabbat evening service at 6:15 p.m. Join us in person and online to process the election together.
Gratitude:
Thank an election worker! Many in our community are volunteering at the polls and have been active in nonpartisan efforts to get out the vote. Please let them know how much you care with ideas from this toolkit from A More Perfect Union, the Jewish nonprofit to strengthen democracy.
Mental Well-Being:
These resources from the Blue Dove Foundation, a Jewish nonprofit focusing on mental health, offer strategies to manage election anxiety.
Jewish Values:
The Institute for Jewish Spirituality prepared materials for the 2020 election season that continue to resonate today.
Practice:
As you vote or wait to hear the election results, consider this meditation by Rabbi Lev Meirowitz Nelson, written in 2016 and still valuable today.
