  • Tikkun olam is a Hebrew phrase that translates to “repairing the world.” It’s a central concept in Judaism that has evolved over nearly two thousand years of Jewish thought and practice. The phrase first appeared in the Talmud during the 1st millennium CE. In modern Jewish circles, tikkun olam has become synonymous with social action and the pursuit of social justice.

This Sh’ma group will focus on a specific project(s), TBD, to do together, and may involve the help of our entire congregation. Some examples are working with the leadership of Paul Quinn College to assist the students in projects such as food or clothes bank, tutoring, etc. Members will meet as needed to accomplish our project(s), and agree on a timeline.
