Volunteer with VNA Meals on Wheels
VNA Meals on Wheels has a dire need for volunteers to participate in their meal delivery service. Prior to Covid-19, 7.4 million seniors had an income level below the poverty line, with 9.7 million threatened by food instability. Every 1 in 4 seniors live alone, with many having difficulty with everyday activities. Meals on Wheels recipients have stated that the home deliveries have allowed them to live independently while also being able to see friends more often. Each year, Meals on Wheels volunteers deliver 221 million meals to 2.4 million seniors.
Historically, Temple Emanu-El has participated on the Christmas delivery, and last year participated in the Thanksgiving Day deliveries. Any frequency that’s best for you is appreciated from as needed, to monthly or weekly.
